I love trying out new Mexican Food places. Growing up in the southwest, I have really developed a taste for good ‘south of the border’ food. Denver has quite a few places, and I thought I had heard about most of the good ones until a few weeks ago a friend of mine suggested that we meet at the Moose Hill Cantina on Colfax.
I need to be a little careful when going to a new restaurant – I have some gluten issues, so I have to make sure there are things I can eat.
After visiting the website, I was thrilled to see that they offer a complete 100% gluten-free menu – almost unheard of for Mexican food. Also when we arrived, the sign outside said “Gluten Free Menu Available.”
I was in heaven, but I had to remind myself that I hadn’t tried the food yet. We actually got there 1/2 hour before they opened on a Sunday, but the young lady said “come on in” and let us sit and order early.
The chips, salsa and food were all very well done and plentiful. I had a GF relleno, and their red sauce on an enchilada, and a guac tostada. All were delicious, even for GF.
We stayed and chatted for about 2 hours, and they were totally ok with us just hanging out catching up. The staff, service and food were all great.
I’ll definitely be going back.
