One of the things I love about being a Denver-area resident is that you don’t have to go far at all to experience wildlife at it’s best.
Actually, sometimes, you can see it while you are grabbing coffee in the kitchen in your jammies!
This is what happened to me recently at my home in Broomfield (just outside of Denver). I was in the kitchen, getting a morning beverage, when a beautiful Hawk landed on the fence in my backyard.
I just happened to have my camera ready to go with a 100-400 mm lens attached, and the lighting was perfect!
Here’s the shot:
He, or she (I can never tell) sat there for a good 4-5 minutes, turning it’s head back and forth, looking for something to eat (I presume).
This one had gorgeous, big yellow eyes, and I could tell that he/she was well aware of my presence – perhaps even posing for me.
Denver is a great place to live. So much to do, and see here, if you just look up, and open your eyes once in a while!
